Oh Man! Techno 293 Windsurfing In Oman!
Posted On:  02/03/2020 19:03:06

Techno 293 OD is THE most happening class in international windsurfing right now, pushing ever further and deeper into every corner of the planet where people want to enjoy the fun of being on the water.

Having just finished the South American Championships in Argentina now it is time to go east. Welcome to Oman, host of the 2020 Techno 293 OD Asian Championships, in the heart of the gulf states and their sun-kissed waters.

To be precise, welcome to the magnificent Mussanah Sports City, already host to the RSX World Championships, and clearly the ideal spot for Oman Sailing to hold high quality racing events in great  conditions. Perfect for all variations of international sailing competition. As evidenced by the rapid rise of Omani sailors generally on the international circuit over the last five years.

Despite the ongoing coronavirus complications that have forced the cancellation of other sport events in the last few days, the Asian Techno 293 and 293 PLUS Championships were able to go ahead, and after 11 rounds of at times unbelievably tight racing in generally light conditions, the committee was able to crown its new, 2020 Techno 293 Asian Champions.

In Techno 293 OD Youth, home rider Ali Al Shrhi squeezed home ahead of the highly competitive Hong Kong girl rider Yuk Kiu Yukie Fung, and Al Shrhi's compatriot Abdulrahaman Al-Mijaini. And in an equally hotly contested Techno 293 PLUS class it was the Hong Kong sailor Asgar Kikabhoy who took the honours, ahead of Oman's Ali Al-Omrani and Abdullah Al-Sarhi. Completing a good day for the home competitors, Abdulmajeed Al-Hadhrami won the Techno 293 PLUS Open contest.

Another great week of Techno 293 sailing, new champions crowned, and yet another demonstration of fabulous Techno 293 action. Well done to everyone who came and raced in Mussanah, congratulations to the winners, and commiserations to the losers, who will come back stronger and more motivated than ever next time.

And especially big thanks to our superb hosts, Omani Sailing, for their great hospitality and organization.
